＜日本の祭り 博多山笠 Hakata-Yamagasa Festival in Fukuoka Kyushu>

The Hakata Yamagasa Festival is held in Fukuoka city every summer.

The last day of the event is the most exciting because a lot of men run carrying a portable shrine.

博多山笠祭りは、毎年福岡県　博多市で行われるお祭りです。

祭りの最終日は、一番盛り上がる場面です。男たちが神輿/山車で町中を廻ります。

 

 

The festival starts early in the morning at 5:00am.

It is still dark.

まだ早朝３時代の暗いうちから市内の地下鉄が動き始め

沿道に追山見学の人たちが集まり始めます。

朝、５時に櫛田神社を出発。

 

 

 

The portable shrines are called "Nagare". Teams race other carrying shrines.

 

追山は町ごとに「流れ」と言われる神輿を担いで走り、その速度を競います。

沿道からは暑いので水がまかれてびしょびしょになりながら走っていました。

 

The Yamagasa shrine is the symbol of men in Hakata.

Local people from small children to old menare very proud of the event and want to take part.
 

I heard that young men diet to lose weight in preparation for the festival.

 

男の人たちは１年間、山笠に出るために仕事を頑張ります。

町の青年として認められた人たちだけが神輿を担ぐことができる

そうで、数年に一度、神輿の上に登れるそうです。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The last portable shrine is special. It is the tallest and is decorated with "Kazari-yama".

The Kazari-yama is curried slowly. The exciting festival finishes with this.

 

 

 

My husband is from FukuokaIt and I have been there a lot of time,
but this was my first Hakata Yamagasa.
